The Matrix is everywhere. It is all around us. Even now, in this very room. You can see it when you look out your window or when you turn on your television. You can feel it when you go to work… when you go to church… when you pay your taxes. It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth. Like everyone else you were born into bondage. Into a prison that you cannot taste or see or touch. A prison for your mind.
-Morpheus
In my mind, the matrix is one of the most profound social commentaries on the condition of humanity today. The average person lives in the matrix with no idea that unplugging is an option. They generally buy into everything the marketers, advertisers, and the media tells them. Beauty magazines play off the insecurities of women by sub communicating that there is something wrong with them. Otherwise, why would the headline “lose weight to make him happy” even be on the magazine. It’s a perfect way to make you question your own beliefs and force you into adopting the insecurity of the masses. The majority of people essentially are victims of social programming completely unaware of the fact they have been and continue to be brainwashed into bondage.
The Matrix is a system, Neo. That system is our enemy. But when you’re inside, you look around, what do you see? Businessmen, teachers, lawyers, carpenters. The very minds of the people we are trying to save. But until we do, these people are still a part of that system and that makes them our enemy. You have to understand, most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inured, so hopelessly dependent on the system, that they will fight to protect it.
For a large percentage of the population ignorance is bliss.
Unplugging from the Matrix
Awareness
If you have started the personal development journey, then you have already started to become aware of the matrix whether you know it or not. If you start to pay attention to the things that have influenced your life, you’ll start to see patterns in the things that have held you back. They’ve almost always come from pre-installed limiting belief systems (i.e. programs in the matrix). Think of it as receiving a PC with Windows installed on it, and most of what you’ve installed has been like spyware. Of course there’s a bit of good stuff, but combined with spyware, the only place it will eventually lead is the blue screen of death.
Beliefs
Figuring out the beliefs that hold you back and changing the writing on the wall is beginning of unplugging from the matrix. Most of what you believe isn’t real and your reality today is a byproduct of these pre-installed limiting beliefs. Even worse, most of what you believe has not been by choice. All that matters is that where you came from is not nearly as important as where you’re going. Focus on where you’re going. Remember there is an amazing power of belief that can enable you to generate results that are out of this world.
Conscious control:
This is most likely our greatest challenge. The matrix has tremendous power to pull you right back because it’s the mind set of the masses. As a result what you expose yourself to has to be consciously controlled. Choose what you watch, listen to, and read wisely. All of it is having an impact on you for better or for worse. Hopefully better!!!
