This is not about how to change beliefs, but the impact they have on our results. Our beliefs have an incredibly powerful effect on our ability to perform and on the level at which we will perform. The problem is that as adults we start to develop the destructive habit of doubt. When we are young we can be told almost anything and we will generally accept it because we have no evidence to the contrary. I started to look back over my life and look at incidents in my life where I applied this philosophy of complete belief with absolutely no doubt. When I was in 7th grade, I started playing the Tuba. The truth is I don’t have any ounce of musical talent, there’s no history of it in my family, and when I started playing the Tuba I could barely read music. But the power of belief gave me a very interesting result:
This concert occurred at the end of my freshman year in high school. The day I picked up the instrument, my music teacher told me "You’re going to be stellar, you will probably be in All-State band." I had no idea what All-State band was, but his 100% belief in me drove all my actions from that point forward. I never had one doubt in my mind because I just accepted what he said and never questioned it. The fact that I was good at this instrument became a belief because somebody else gave me something to belief with no evidence to the contrary. As adults, we when we try to change our beliefs, we have already seen so much evidence to the contrary about a new belief that we are trying to adopt, that we struggle. Imagine the potential if we just accepted every new belief with blind faith, and didn’t pay attention to contrary evidence, and started paying attention to supporting evidence. Imagine the possibilities!!!

Srinivas,
I believe it is you playing the tuba in the video. I have seen so many examples in my personal life that if you believe you can really make things changes… The power of positivity really works and I have experienced it a lot of times.
Great post!
