“What you put into your mind is just as important as to what you put into your body”

-Lamar Smith

As I thought about that I realized that we have certain mental toxins that really keep our lives from progressing. As I explore the the law of attraction further, I keep finding critical mind sets that you have to adopt, which basically are like a mental detox of sorts.

Stress: By now it’s obvious that stress is linked to all sorts of problems related to health, happiness, and every other problem that people have. Along with stress comes more negative thoughts, which results in negative vibration and negative experiences. Thus, it is impossible for the law of attraction to work for good under stressful conditions.

Anger: Anger is one of our most potent mental toxins. If you think about all the horrible things that occur under the influence of anger, you’ll see it’s dangers. Wars, murders, abuse, and the most horrific acts of humanity often stemmed from anger.   When you put anger out into the world you are basically planting the seeds of all these horrible things, so you can’t attract good when you do this.

Resentment: Holding a grudge against those who do wrong against you is almost natural, but extremely detrimental. You’re really the one who suffers by holding onto resentment. It’s only when you truly start to see the gift in every one that you can accelerate manifesting what you want into your life.

News/Media/Television: This one is always a bit controversial, but I’m going to throw it out there. I myself am  a huge fan of teenie bopper television (The O.C., One Tree Hill).  Most people consider this really bad television. To add to that, these shows reinforce messages of materialism and reaching outside yourself for happiness. Just make sure you are aware of what you are being exposed to. The news is something that I don’t give much attention to which is ironic since I’m a graduate of an MBA program. I actually don’t read anything about the recession or economy. It’s no of interest to me because what you give your interest to expands. I even deleted RSS feeds from blogs that talk about unemployment because I don’t want to read about it. Once you start to put controls over what kind of media you allow yourself to be exposed to you’ll be shocked to see what happens.

Wow! I love the idea of mental toxins. I mean, I don’t like THEM, but I like the idea of them and the idea that we can identify them and get rid of them. Excellent post. I especially love the part about media since that’s what I’m writing about over on my new blog.

Mental toxins can definitely hold us back. In a lot of ways, they can be even more poisonous than physical toxins. Stress if not dealt with can lead to life threatening diseases like heart attacks and so on.

Regardless of how the belief may have been formed, clearing it is as easy as consistently reinforcing your own worthiness every day. Make a list of reasons why you think you do deserve to have what you want.

Even when we feel very far away, the assurance, joy, and newfound hope is ours the moment we discover the right direction. Need some financial peace of mind? Seek first to find joy in simply being headed in the right direction. With a resolved intention to find the right direction, you will be led to it. From there, the joy and peace of mind you seek will certainly follow.
