Life is a Song

You say life is a dream where we can’t say what we mean
Maybe just some roadside scene that we’re driving past
There’s no telling where we’ll be in a day or in a week
And there’s no promises of peace or of happiness

Well is this why you cling to every little thing
And polverize and derrange all your senses
Maybe life is a song but you’re scared to song along
Until the very ending

Oh, it’s time to let go of everything we used to know
Ideas that strengthen who we’ve been
It’s time to cut ties that won’t ever free our minds
From the chains and shackles that they’re in

Oh, tell me what good is saying that you’re free
In a dark and storming sea
You’re chained to your history, you’re surely sinking fast
You say that you know that the good Lord’s in control
He’s gonna bless and keep your tired and oh so restless soul
But at the end of the day when every price has been paid
You’re gonna rise and sit beside him on some old seat of gold
And won’t you tell me why you live like you’re afraid to die
You’ll die like you’re afraid to go

Oh, it’s time to let go of everything we used to know
Ideas that strengthen who we’ve been
It’s time to cut ties that won’t ever free our minds
From chains and shackles that they’re in
From the chains and shackles that they’re in

Well life is a dream ’cause we’re all walking in our sleep
You could see us stand in lines like we’re dead upon our feet
And we build our house of cards and then we wait for it to fall
Always forget how strange it is just to be alive at al

7 Life Lessons from Patrick Park

1. There’s no telling where we’ll be in a day or in a week

For so much of our lives we are completely caught up in accomplishing our goals, making progress, and what the future holds for us that we forget that there really is no telling what the future holds for us, and that this moment is really is precious. Presence seems to be a message that has been completely forgotten in a world where people use their iphones to Twitter about the conversation they are having with you, as their mind wanders into tomorrow.

2. Oh, it’s time to let go of everything we used to know
Ideas that strengthen who we’ve been

One of the greatest challenges in personal development is that many of the ideas, beliefs, and values that you have truly do strengthen who you’ve been even if they are not empowering. They have allowed you to have an identity. As you start to explore change, you might feel like you have no identity, but on the other side the mountain are the ideas that strengthen who you’ll be rather than who you’ve been.

3. It’s time to cut ties that won’t ever free our minds

We have so many ingrained ideas that honestly won’t ever help us in life. Letting go of them can be hard. Looking back at the Matrix, it’s only when Neo can really free his mind that he can start to shape the Matrix the way he sees fit.

4.You’re chained to your history, you’re surely sinking fast

The past doesn’t equal the future, and if you dwell on the past, then you’re likely to recreate it. If we look over the history of humanity, there’s no doubt that it has included some of mankind’s darkest hours, but we study it in order to prevent history from repeating itself.

5. Well life is a dream ’cause we’re all walking in our sleep

Look around the world and you’ll see that many people have become so ingrained in their routines that they really are not living life. Everything in their lives is done on autopilot and the worst part is that they are not even aware. Awareness is the beginning of awakening.

6. And we build our house of cards and then we wait for it to fall

This seems to be something that gets put into our minds at a very early age. Hope for the best, but don’t expect too much, so you won’t be disappointed. Essentially, we build a mental house of cards. If you wouldn’t build you real house out of cards, then why would you build your mental one out of cards?

7. Always forget how strange it is just to be alive at all

There is no doubt that Life is a Miracle.  It seems we take being alive for granted every day, But when you start to look at the world around you a bit more closely and look at it all as if you are seeing it for the first time, you will start to see just “how strange it is to be alive at all”

Whoa, such an uplifting entry. When pondering “deep thoughts”, I have always thought about number 7. So much of the mass media and institutions of the world program us to think we are failures if we are not world famous billionaires by the time we are in our mid-tenties. But do we ever stop to think what a miracle it is to even be alive at all? All the zillions of things that have to fall into place just to be here at all, as long as we are trying our best and not hurting others, none of us should feel like a “loser.” We’re all frail humans and make mistakes, no need to beat ourselves up about it, but just find happiness in being alive to fight another day. God bless you, and thank you for your support.

Excellent post! I love taking a song’s lyrics and thinking about how I can learn more from them so I really enjoyed reading this one. :)
