Today is the start of a new podcast series that I’m starting here on the Skool of Life called Interviews with up and coming bloggers. The bloggers I’ll be interviewing on a regular basis are people who’ve been very successful in growing their blogs rapidly. For this first interview, I was fortunate to interview Josh Hanagarne from World’s Strongest Librarian. Below are just a few highlights from this interview that I think you’ll find tremendously valuable:
- How Josh turned a great disadvantage (Tourette’s Syndrome) and leveraged it to start his blog
- The strategy Josh used to get guest posts published on some of the most popular blogs within one month of starting his blog
- The tactics Josh has used to grow his blog 3000 visitors a day in six months
- An email that Josh received from Seth Godin that resulted in a book deal, a literary agent, and more...
- Josh’s own success strategies that enabled him to get the most out of Blog Mastermind
As mentioned above, this is the beginning of a regular series on The Skool of Life that I think you’ll find tremendously valuable. If you are an up and coming blogger who has about 500 RSS readers and have successfully started to monetize your blog, please contact me to so I can interview you.

Hi Srinivas.
I enjoyed listening to this and did get some useful information/reminders from it as well. It’s cool to hear from both and Josh at the same time.
I like the directness of explanation in it as well.
Glad to hear this.
Hi Armen,
Thanks for stopping by. Josh has a great story and is really good at breaking down how he’s been successful. It was a really fun interview. I’ve got a few more of these coming out soon which I think you’ll enjoy.
Hey Srinivas, thanks for posting and sharing this interview with all of us.
Like Armen said, I’ve also learned some great pointers as I am just starting out with my blog.
Josh is very inspirational, with his blog that is only about half a year old and yet getting tons of visits per day is one of the goals that I have for mine.
and I completely agree with the both of you when you mentioned about passion. Passion should be the driving force behind the progress of our blogs, or else it’ll just be a…long and tiring process…just like WORK
.
Also…wow 20 mins a post? That’s ridiculously fast, I spend at least like an hour for my written posts. But then again my posts are usually pretty long.
Anyways, thanks for sharing this with us, great stories and tips from Josh.
Steven
thanks for sharing
Hey Steven,
Thanks for the comments. I think this series of podcasts is going to be really useful for all of us. I’ve learned a ton just from the first two that I’ve done and I have plans to do many more.
Great job man! Enjoyed listening to it.
Hey Srini,
I didn’t listen to the whole interview, but The World Strongest Librarian sounds like a really interesting guy. Wish I could get my posts done in 20 minutes!!!
Cheers,
Steve
Good podcast, well done lads. Definitely enjoyed listening but I wish I’d known how long it was going to be before I got into it. Didn’t know you were a surfer Srini. I hit the surf yesterday and am aching today. Got to do it more often.
Josh… 20 mins… I hate you:) I write my posts fast but spend hours agonising over the final edit. Some of my most popular posts have been the ones I wrote in a nanosecond though… funny that:)
Hey Annabel,
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you’ll stick around for other podcasts I’ve got planned. I’ve one coming next week that you guys will absolutely love.
This was a really good interview. Josh is very open and passionate about what he does and your laid back interview style kept the conversation running smoothly.
I like the the tip he gave concerning approaching large blogs about doing guest posts. Guest posting is definitely my next move so the info provided was useful.
I look forward to your future interviews.
