For the past few weeks I’ve going through Tony Robbins Personal Power II program for what is probably the 4th time. I mentioned before the importance of using repetition to get the most out of a personal development course. Part of going through Tony’s program involves keeping a journal. The journal includes a series of exercises designed to help you get the most out of your life. Based on the content of the success journal, I came up with idea for creating an owner’s manual for your brain. While you might be able to follow my blog posts and create this manual, I highly recommend that you purchase a copy of Personal Power II in order to create your owner’s manual. I honestly don’t know how long this series will be given the complexity of our brains, but I think you will find the concepts I present here extremely valuable to your personal development efforts.
You might be wondering why I would want to create an owner’s manual for the brain. Ironically it’s probably the most complicated thing that we possess that comes with virtually no instructions on how it actually works. When you purchase a new car, the owner’s manual gives you some instructions on features and functionality, but for the most part you rarely use it, and almost everything you do in a car is done on subconscious auto-pilot.
Unlike your car, the features and functionality of your brain are not as straight forward. Once you start to understand the features and functionality of your brain, you can really leverage them to achieve peak performance in almost every area of your life. Unfortunately, much of how we utilize our brains today is done on subconscious auto-pilot. With an proper owner’s manual for our brain, we can exert a greater deal of control over our lives and the events that occur. Unlike the owners’s manual for a car, once you’ve created the owner’s manual for your brain, you will need to read it over and over again, until you change your subconscious auto-pilot behaviors for a more productive result. Over the next few weeks or however long it takes, I’ll be writing posts with exercises that are designed to leave you with an owner’s manual for operating your brain for peak performance.
