Hmmm. This on top of no surfing = rough week. Glad you were able to walk away unharmed. Maybe the universe is saying Take a break. Or maybe the universe is just on vaca this week. In any case I think it’s a sign to rest!

I think our brains are wired the same way – I tend to look immediately for lessons and for explanations in things that happen. It’s so easy to get behind the Law of Attraction when you understand how you attracted certain things and people in your life. It’s tougher when bad things happen and we ask “what did I do wrong?” But you’re right when you say, “every incident in your life happens at the time it’s supposed to, for the reason it’s supposed to, and ultimately teaches you what it’s supposed to,” and I think that if we can see the “bad” events as just course-changers, it’s easier to accept.

I had to ask myself why I found myself in a scary position late this winter – what had I done to attract such negativity, such a “bad” thing – and then I realized that being through that particular situation helped me explicitly define exactly what I wanted – out of a relationship and out of a life path.

And the moment I let go of the past and opened up to possibility – I got JUST that. Not saying your car accident happened to help you define that, but maybe to take a fresh look at priorities? Either way – again, I think our brains are wired the same way

First off, I am glad that you are ok. Accidents like that suck, and when things seems to be pilling up in opposition from what you had intended its hard to let go. Changing your mind’s state and beginning to improve the situation vs continuing down the rabbit hole. Easy in theory but sure takes some practice to apply when the situation requires.

It’s great to hear that you got out of the accident unscathed!! It is in these moments that we should stop and breathe it all in as you excellently did. Same thing happened to me some years ago (see my email) but I didn’t take it as good and constructively as you did…I was much younger and way more foolish. But I still thank my lucky stars whenever I remember.

@Kenji: Yeah, it’s weird. In the past I think I would have much more anxiety and anger about the whole thing.

@Ken: Yeah, to add to this mess, my car is old so it’s not even worth dealing with.

@Robby: It’s interesting because somehow when you link all those bad things up together, it’s like the good things fit right into the middle and would have never been there if you hadn’t had some of the bad ones.

@Hulbert: It sounds like yours could have been much worse than it was. I feel fortunate that my car wasn’t hit on the driver’s side.

Hi Srinirao, I’m sorry about what happened to your car. The good thing is that you’re okay. I don’t know whether accidents happen by chance or if they happen for a reason, but the best thing to do is to accept it and move on.

The worst thing that happened to me was getting a flat tire on the freeway while I was driving an SUV. It was wobbling when the tire blew out. I was pretty mad that I was delaying my entire day because I was at the repair shop. But eventually, I realized that I could of been seriously injured, and being alive was the most important thing that mattered.

This reminded me of that, and I hope you get your car fixed soon so you can get on with your work.

I agree with you. For the past year I’ve been one of the most calm people just because I’ve adopted a theory that everything happens for the best. I’ve had horrible things happen to me and they’ve all somehow played in my advantage in the end of it all. I don’t know if it’s luck or just a positive mindset, but it’s just been working out quite well for me. Shit happens but as long as we live through it, there’s really no big deal. Nice post mate.

What a coincidence. My car was totaled while it was parked on the street a few weeks ago. The insurance company is a bi+ch to deal with, but we have to look at the positive side… if there are any. If not just make one up. Good vibes sent your way!

It’s amazing how many instances there are of people who’ve had unfortunate accidents but later come to view them as the best thing that ever happened to them. It’s encouraging to see you’re adopting this viewpoint just a day after!
