A week before Christmas I shared some of my thoughts on my bloggers journey and the lessons I’ve learned. I thought I’d follow that up with a long drawn out look back at some life lessons, posts I’ve written, and more. I hope you enjoy it.
Early 2009:
I returned from Brazil in January of 2009 and had the delightful experience of my first wave. I had no idea how much that moment would change my life in the months to follow. I was in the process of finishing an MBA and absolutely terrified at the prospect of graduation and the job market.
- April 11 2009: Turned 31
- April 18, 2009: Graduated from Pepperdine with my MBA
- April 28th, 2009- Launched The Skool of Life
As the summer approached and my money ran out, I seemed to grow more and more drawn to my main source of inspiration, happiness, and mental clarity: I started my life long journey as a surfer.
What Surfing taught me in 2009:
- Why Surfing makes the world a better place
- 7 Life Lessons from the Skool of Surf
- Riding the Waves of Recession to enlightenment
- Ride the wave in the direction it’s taking you
- Wave selection, choices, and the ride to success
- Surfing, Zen, and Your inner child
- 7 qualities of water you should emulate in your personal life
- Embrace the Winds of Change
- Shake the wipeouts, learn from them, and move on
At this point it’s not something I do, it’s a part of who I am.

Hey Srini.
This is a good deal. Surfing to you is the thing I was talking about in my post about not stopping what you enjoy to save time. Surfing is one of your things, just like a couple of my things are basketball/running and rapping.
Solid set of guest posts there. Good call on the insta-launch of TSOL in April after the other events. Your persistence is well-noticed.
By the way you misspelled “school” in the site name. Are you trying to teach us to make typos? I am kidding around.
As we head to 2010~

@Amit: Thanks for stopping by
. I hope you’ll check out some of the other articles. A prosperous New Year to you as well.
@Armen: Surfing has definitely been huge for me. All of my ideas have come from time in the water. Ironically I do my best thinking when I’m not thinking about anything as a strange as that sounds

Hi Srinivas. That is cool that you found what you loved to do. It’s also pretty cool that you got your masters at Pepperdine. Thanks for sharing your passion of surfing here in this blog and I’ll be looking forward to more of your posts at The Skool of Life in 2010.
@Hulbert: Thanks. It’s been a really interesting ride so far and I’m looking forward to seeing the progress of everybody in 2010.
